The final phase of the McPherson Library first floor renovations will commence in late December and continue for at least three months. This phase will incorporate new shelving for Current Periodicals (CP), four Group Study Rooms, two resource rooms for Students with a Disability, increased study seating and twenty additional scholar's workstations in the ever popular Information Commons.

To maintain access to all of the collections during the renovations and in preparation for demolition, the majority of CP titles will be temporarily housed on the 2nd Floor of the library. This shift will take place in early December. Many periodical titles which have an electronic version, will now be permanently housed in the main collection. The entire Z collection is now permanently located in Basement Compact Shelving. Once the renovation is completed the CP collection will be shifted back to the first floor.
The Library catalogue will be updated to reflect the location change for CP titles. For assistance with locating print periodicals, please ask at the Loan or Reference Desk. A librarian or library staff member will be pleased to assist.
Every attempt will be made to schedule the noisiest parts of the construction outside of regular hours though minor disruptions cannot be avoided.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this time of transition. We anticipate that the additional study space, Information Commons computers and group study rooms created in this renovation will greatly enhance your learning needs.

The annual book sale to raise funds for the United Way through the UVic Campus Campaign took place Nov. 2 & 3, with a pre-sale of maps Nov. 1.
The sale included more than books. The Libraries received donations of books, records, CDs, and even DVDs. All items sold for $2.00 each and all the money raised goes to the United Way.
In addition, there was a pre-sale of Maps Monday, November 1, in the same location. Miscellaneous maps were on sale by donation, with the money also going directly to the United Way. Space allowing, Maps will also be included in the Book Sale November 2 and 3.
After 3:00 p.m. on the final day all items were sold by donation, rather than for the set price of $2.00.
The event raised over $6,000 for the United Way.
We hope to see you next year!
