Food for Fines -- Extended to December 8th!

Avoiding paying library fines?

“Food for Fines”, an initiative of UVic Libraries is a great way to clear your Library debt while helping to support those in need.

From November 27th to December 8th, for each non-perishable food item donated, Library users will have $2 waived from their Library fines, up to a maximum of $20. All borrowers are eligible to participate.

Donations can be made to:

 Curriculum Lab (MacLaurin building)
 Music, Audio and Media Services (McPherson Library)
 Main Loan Desk (McPherson Library)

Those without fines who wish to donate food items are also encouraged to participate, however we cannot issue a credit towards future Library fines. Food for Fines will distribute donations to the Mustard Seed and the UVSS Food Banks.

The Mustard Seed ‘wish list’ of most needed staple food items includes: peanut butter, baby food, rice, macaroni and pasta, juice boxes, dried peas and beans and canned fish.

For more information, contact Shailoo Bedi, McPherson Library, at (250) 721-8226 or

Curric Lab Survey

UVic Libraries and the Curriculum Laboratory are launching an online survey to gather feedback from Undergraduates of the Faculty of Education program.

The survey will take place from Monday, November 20th until Friday, December 1st, 2006.

An invitation to participate in the survey will be emailed to all Faculty of Education Undergraduate students on Monday, November 20th. If you do not receive an invitation to participate, please call the Curriculum Lab (721-7900) or email curric@uvic.ca.

The feedback received from the survey will assist us to identify how best to concentrate service improvements and to provide focus for strategic planning and future initiatives.

We are offering incentives to encourage participation – survey respondents may enter a draw to win one of two $25 copy cards. The draw will take place on Monday, December 4th and the winners will be notified via email.

Results from the survey will be available in early 2007 on the Curriculum Lab website.

Thank-you in advance for your participation in the survey and for taking this opportunity to assist UVic Libraries in our ongoing initiative to provide better service to our Library users.
