Uvic Libraries is pleased to announce that the inaugural year of our “Food for Fines” campaign was a huge success!
Almost $3,500 in Library fines were forgiven thanks to the generous food donations made by Library users. All food donations have been distributed to the Mustard Seed and UVic Student Society Food Banks.
We also raised over $300 in cash donations, which have been gratefully received by the Mustard Seed and will be put toward services to help those in need.
You can check out the Mustard Seed’s website here: http://www.mustardseed.ca/ and the UVic Student Society’s Food Bank here: http://www.uvss.uvic.ca/services/food.html#foodbank.
We would like to thank all those who helped and supported this initiative by donating their time and services: UVic Communications, UVic Marketing, UVic Printing, The Martlet, The Ring, UVSS, The Mustard Seed, Shaw Cable and all Libraries staff!
Thanks again to everyone who donated food and helped us make the campaign such a success, let’s see if we can beat our total next year!
