Shailoo Bedi, Access & Branch Services, sends the following message:
The UVic Libraries are pleased to announce that the second annual “Food for Fines” campaign was a great success!
Once again, the campaign was extended due to the positive feedback from UVic students and staff. Thanks to all of the generous donations we received, Food for Fines filled 41 boxes of food for the Mustard Seed and UVSS food banks – that’s $3070.00 in waived fines! In addition, the cash, cheque and credit card donations that we collected for the Mustard Seed will be put towards services to help those in need.
You can check out the Mustard Seed’s website here: http://www.mustardseed.ca/ and the UVSS’s food bank here: http://www.uvss.uvic.ca/index.php?page=food#bank.
The Food for Fines coordinators would like to offer a HUGE thank you to all Libraries Staff – we really appreciate all your time and efforts!
Thanks again to everyone who donated food and money this year – your contributions are so important! Keep your eyes open for Food for Fines 2008!
