History Librarian's Blog | |
As part of our continued expansion and exploration of library instruction, I will be doing a series of half-hour workshops on various and diverse topics related to History Research of all kinds.
When: Every Thursday beginning September 13th at 12.30pm.
Topics: TBA.
Who is welcome?: Everybody - Faculty, Instructors, Grads, Undergrads, history majors and nonmajors, librarians, etc.
You will shortly see that we are phasing out the hour-long general sessions in favour of shorter, more specific sessions offered regularly throughout the term - we're also encouraged to offer topics such as Faculty Refresher, Grad Refresher, new Faculty/Grad, and many more. Let me know if any of this sounds of interest?
Here are the handouts from my recent workshop on new resources for finding journal articles:
Royal Historical Society Bibliography Handout
Historical Abstracts/America History and Life new features handout
Google Scholar for Historians handout
To see a list of new book titles, go to Http://gateway.uvic.ca and select "new resources", and then select "new titles" ... you'll have the option to select titles in specific areas of the library (or not) and you can go bac as far as four weeks - you can also keyword search the new titles list.
We buy new books constantly, so check them out!
